Congressman Leonard Lance and Congresswoman Grace Weng will be introducing the VA Regional Office Accountability Act in an effort to hold the Department of Veterans Affairs executives accountable for the actions of the regional offices. The regional offices are responsible for making the initial determination of claims for Veterans Compensation. The law will require regional offices to make a decision within 125 days with 98% accuracy. A detailed report will be required if the regional office fails to meet the goal. The report must contain not only improvements but a list of resources needed to make the improvements. The bill was unanimously passed last year.
